It was November 7, 2009 and Lauren was ready for her first half marathon (13 miles). She proved herself in the summer by placing in two triathalons. Now she was ready for a 13 mile run in beautiful Snow Canyon. Lauren started well and maintained a good speed. She was at home in the beautiful canyon that she's hiked more times that she'd like to count. She was running the canyon now with her ipod blaring and seemingly all of the other runners far behind. Lauren was in the "Zone".
Suddenly, the road she was running on ended. Where was everyone? Why had her bliss ended so abruptly? The last check point was three miles back. Could she have gotten lost? Oh, no...not Lauren. She headed back to the check point and after 19 long miles she completed the race. Not last of course but certainly not first like she had hoped. Next time Laur.
